Included in the cost of your business phone system service agreement with Loop Communications is a Busy Lamp Field (or BLF) feature that lets you see which phones are in use, and enables your phones to change the color of the speed dial button between green and red.
BLF is primarily used for internal extensions so you can easily see who is on the phone (red if on the phone, green if available). We also set it up for open/closed time conditions, so that you can override these times (red if closed, green if open), as well as create group voicemail boxes (red for messages, green for no messages).
Like everything else, Loop is happy to set all of this up for our customers.
